NORTH CACHAR HILLS COMMUNITY RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PROJECT

(A unit of NERCORM Project)

NERCORMP PROJECT IN N.C. HILLS DISTRICT OF ASSAM:

 In N.C. Hills district the project is being implemented forming District Society (DS) i.e.  North Cachar Hills Community Resource Management Society (NCHCRMS) having its executive board member and the Principal Secretary of the N.C. Hills District Autonomous council as the President of this Society.   

 In the district the project became operational from July’1999 taking up 19 project villages from Mahur and Thanalambra cluster. However, two villages were dropped during the year 2000 due to some operational problem. Forty three (43) new villages were included during 2^nd expansion phase i.e. during 2001-02 viz. Barail, S.S. Road, Harangajao, Asalu, Dihamlai. Again during 2003-04 another 24 new villages were covered under the project  and finally during 2004-05 the project had been expanded to another new 47 villages and thus till 31^st March’05 altogether 131 villages were covered under the project extending benefit to 5297 households
